Sharon Cuneta - Highlights of "The Sharon Cuneta Concert U.S. Tour" 1988

This is one of Sharon Cuneta's significant concerts abroad! She performed to a sold-out crowd in 1988 at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium which made her the first Filipino artist to do so. Then mayor Tom Bradley made an appearance in one of her shows to give her the city's Plaque of Welcome and Appreciation. He said, "Mabuhay! Sharon, we are thrilled to see and hear you tonight. You know, of course, some 400,000 Filipinos in California watch your video all the time. They cry with you. They love you! And tonight, this sold-out house is a tribute to you and the love and affection that your fans have for you. I am privileged to be here tonight and present to you an official welcome to the city of Los Angeles."

The Asian Journal Blog further states,

'"Sharon is the first Filipina artist to sell out at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium first in 1988 and her latest June 11th, 2005 concert. Her poster is enshrined in The Shrine’s Hall of Fame next to stars Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand and the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico. She created a traffic jam in the 90’s and puzzled the former Mayor of Los Angeles Tom Bradley. After hearing of her success, the mayor attended the concert and awarded Sharon with an Honorary Key to the City of Los Angeles,” says Artistopia.com.'

Sharon's movies and TV shows on videos were considered to be two of the most selling Filipino videos abroad in the '80s at a time when Filipinos started going abroad for work or for migration.

Aside from performing in Los Angeles in 1988,. Sharon along with Herbert Bautista & Tonton Gutierrez did Jack & Jill sa Amerika, the sequel to 1987's blockbuster hit Jack & Jill, featuring some of the Filipino actors who settled in the U.S. The concert was also featured in the film.
